Powering Fairness – Commerce Commission | Electricity Price Reset 2025
Date
2025
Location
Wellington
Overview:
This project reminded me why I love what I do. Helping the Commerce Commission reset the rules around how most Kiwis pay for electricity wasn’t just about policy and modelling—it was about fairness, clarity, and making sure the system works for everyone.
The Challenge:
The reset of the electricity default price-quality path (DPP4) sets the default price paths for 16 electricity distribution businesses in Aoteatora. It needed careful coordination between legal, policy, economic and modelling teams, with a strong focus on public accountability. The challenge? Bringing all of that together under one clear direction—on a regulated timeline and with care.
Approach Taken:
I led the charge across five key delivery areas, making sure the right people were connected at the right time. My job was part conductor, part translator—helping technical teams stay aligned and giving leaders the information they needed to steer with confidence. We built trust early and kept communication flowing right through to delivery.
Outcome:
The project stayed on track, and the reset was developed with integrity, transparency, and teamwork. I walked away proud—not just of the milestones, but of how we got there.
